The professionalization of employees – an EU project



The professionalization of employees at Brno Public Transport Authority (DopravnÝ podnik mýsta Brna, a. s.) and increasing their adaptability on the labour market

The Personnel Department at DPMB compiled and submitted, in line with Call for Proposals 35 of the Operational Programme Human Resources and Employment, an application for ôThe professionalization of employees at Brno Public Transport Authority (DopravnÝ podnik mýsta Brna, a. s.) and increasing their adaptability on the labour marketö. A grant of CZK 5,321,511 was subsequently awarded to DPMB, a.s., by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs as a result of the fact that the application complied with the terms and conditions of acceptance, was favourably evaluated and was recommended by the evaluation committee.

Key activities in the project

02 The servicing of vehicles used in public transport

The aim is as follows:

  • to develop the qualifications and expertise of participants and increase their adaptability on the labour market;
  • to learn and master the knowledge and skills required for the maintenance and servicing of new types of buses / trolley buses;
  • to keep up with new trends in the field.
  • 03 Creating and introducing e-learning

    The aim is as follows:

  • to broaden the education and training system to include the e-learning method;
  • to increase the effectiveness of education and training as part of the professionalization of drivers and IT preparation by introducing b-learning (e-learning + instructor/tutor).
  • 04 The professionalization of drivers

    The aim is as follows:

  • to build on the basic training provided to drivers when obtaining a driving licence through professionalization training aimed at predicting, avoiding and resolving crisis situations;
  • to increase safety and travel comfort for passengers;
  • to learn to analyse critical situations, choose a suitable solution and test it out on a simulator.
  • 05 Communication skills and dealing with passengers

    The aim is as follows:

  • to cope with the resolution of crisis situations on means of transport;
  • to learn and master the fundamentals of crisis communication;
  • to learn how to cope with stress and stressful situations;
  • to improve knowledge of legislation in the resolution of demanding situations;
  • to contribute towards passenger satisfaction with how the employees of DPMB act and behave.
  • 06 Management skills

    The aim is as follows:

  • to improve and deepen the knowledge and skills of managers in the sphere of people management, motivation, evaluation and development;
  • to reinforce the personal and professional growth of medium-level managers;
  • to boost knowledge in the sphere of financial management.
  • 07 The standardisation of ICT literacy

    The aim is as follows:

  • to harmonise the knowledge and skill levels of employees;
  • to improve work at subdivisions;
  • to improve work using office programmes, the Internet and e-mail;
  • to develop the ICT literacy of company employees.
  • 08 Training for in-house instructors

    The aim is as follows:

  • to increase the quality and effectiveness of in-house education and training;
  • to gain access to sources of the very latest knowledge from andragogy and pedagogical psychology;
  • to develop the abilities and skills of in-house instructors in the field of educating and training adults;
  • to strengthen the ability to prepare courses in line with the needs of the target group;
  • to train in managing lessons and courses in a way which captures and maintains the attention of those in attendance.
  • The ôProfessionalization of DPMB employeesö project helps maintain a high level of preparation among employees to fulfil the company vision and helps ensure that the travelling public is happy with the services provided by Brno Public Transport Authority.
